At Acre Rigg Academy, we use the Charanga scheme (from Durham Music Service) as the basis for our curriculum planning. This scheme is an integrated, practical, exploratory and child led approach to musical learning.

In order to enrich the musical experiences of all our children, Acre Rigg Academy currently welcomes a range of external providers who work with the different year groups for a number of weekly sessions over the school year.
