Sports Premium
Sports Premium
The Primary PE and Sport premium was introduced in March 2013 to improve the provision of physical education and school sport in primary schools across England. The £150 million per year funding is provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health, and Culture, Media and Sport. The money will go directly to schools to be spent on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children. The sport funding can only be spent on sport and PE provision.
Sport and PE at Acre Rigg Academy
In order to create sustainable, enjoyable and competitive sport within our school we offer a wide variety of sports, competitions and after school clubs which are accessible by all. We have a long term plan from Year 3 to Year 6 with planning and assessment resources to inform future teaching and planning. The coverage and opportunities offered to all learners are carefully planned to fit in with all intra-school and inter-school competitions.
Sustainability
Teachers are expected to teach PE by working with the Sports Development Teacher, specialist coaches and/or the Easington Schools Sports Partnership coaches in order to upskill their curriculum knowledge, pedagogy and skills. This will ensure that they provide and delivery high quality PE lessons, year on year. Through the Sports Premium, equipment and resources will be purchase strategically so that they can be used year on year to enhance school's curriculum offer.
