The Primary PE and Sport premium was introduced in March 2013 to improve the provision of physical education and school sport in primary schools across England. The £150 million per year funding is provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health, and Culture, Media and Sport. The money will go directly to schools to be spent on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children. The sport funding can only be spent on sport and PE provision. In February 2014, the government committed to continuing the funding until 2020.
Teachers are expected to teach PE by working with the Sports Development Teacher and/or Schools Sports Partnership coaches in order to upskill their curriculum knowledge and delivery. Planning is shared and rationales for learning is given.
Swimming data for 2021 is detailed below in the review of Sports Premium for 2020-21.
