What Does MFL look like at Acre Rigg Academy?
Acre Rigg Academy believes that the learning of a foreign language provides a valuable educational, social and cultural experience for the pupils. Pupils develop communication and literacy skills that lay the foundation for future language learning. We teach Spanish across year 4 - 6.
Years 4
Spanish lessons are taught by class teachers in lower school but are planned with the support of the Spanish specialist. These lessons take place on a two weekly rotation and focus on learning new vocabulary, conversational skills and writing in Spanish.
Year 5 & 6
Spanish lessons are taught by a native Spanish speaking language specialist in upper school. These lessons take place on a two weekly rotation and focus on learning new vocabulary, conversational skills and writing in Spanish. The specialist teacher plans, delivers and assesses the learning. At the end of the academic year, the specialist also produces a report for parents. Children will also be provided with a log in for language angels so work can be accessed through computers during lessons or at home.
