Year 6

Welcome to Year 6!

Welcome to the Year 6 page! The teachers that you will meet in Year 6 are Miss Mann, Miss Thomson and Mrs Cooper. Our Year 6 teaching assistant is Mrs Sullivan.

In this part of the website we will share photographs and information about what we have been doing.

Key information for Year 6:

  • Wednesday  - homework and reading records to be handed in
  • Friday - PE kits (including shoes) need to be in school. Homework is handed out.
  • Children are set ten spellings every week and these are tested weekly. Your child should bring this list home to practise.
  • Year 6 library day is Thursday. Children need to ensure that books are in school on this day if they wish to change them.

Our Science topic this term is Habitats and Classification. Children will learn all about how scientists classify plants and animals.

Our topic this term is 'What a Wonderful World'. Children will learn about the physical geography of different landscapes and will work specifically on atlas and map skills.

Year 6 have been reading 'William's Doll' in PSHE. Pupils have enjoyed exploring stereotypes and, through discussing the characters in the story, children have been able to build on their own and others' ideas and have been able to challenge views respectfully.
