Year 6

Welcome to the Year 6 page! The teachers that you will meet in Year 6 are Mrs Mayo, Miss Thomson and Mr Smith. Mrs Longstaff is the teaching assistant who will be working mainly with children in Year 6. Meet the Team below.


In this part of the website we will share photographs and information about what we have been doing.


Key information for Year 6:

  • Monday - Year 6 library day is Monday. Children need to ensure that books are in school on this day if they wish to change them.
  • Children are set ten spellings every week and these are tested weekly. Your child should bring this list home to practise. Their spelling test is on Monday.


  • Wednesday- PE kits (including shoes) need to be in school.


  • Friday - Homework should be completed online. Reading records should be handed in. New homework will be set and will be open for children to complete from 3:20pm on Friday to 7:30am the following Friday.

Year 6 have been reading 'William's Doll' in PSHE. Pupils have enjoyed exploring stereotypes and, through discussing the characters in the story, children have been able to build on their own and others' ideas and have been able to challenge views respectfully.
